Since ancient times, Bourgas region has been famous for its wine production. There are vast vine plantations in Bourgas, Pomorie, Karnobat, Soungurlare, Grozden, Yambol, Sliven, Elkhovo, Straldja and Rossenovo.
A special treat is always in store for those who visit the cellars of the Black Sea Gold Company at Pomorie. Free tastings include dry whites, reds, semi-dry and sweet wines, and last, but not least, the internationally acclaimed Black Sea Gold Brandy of the cognac variety.

If you would like to experience grape picking and wine production, tour operators will gladly make the necessary arrangements.
Of particular interest is the Trifon Zarezan Festival in honour of the patron saint of vineyards and wine production Saint Triphon. Every year, on February 14, wine growers begin pruning their vines and pour red wine over the roots, hoping for a rich harvest.
A visit to the Museum of the Wine in Soungurlare is a worthwhile experience. There one can learn about the history of wine making Bulgaria.

A wine-tasting journey would not be complete without seeing the wine cellar and vermouth factory in the village of Slavyantsi and the cellars of Domain Boyar in Sliven. The latter company, and vineyards in the Yambol region, export bottled white wines- Traminer, Chardonnay Selected and red wines including Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon Special Reserve. The Vincom wine cellars of Bourgas bottle and export Rose from the southern coast, Cabernet from the Bourgas area, and Aitos Misket as well as Chardonnay from the Southern Coast.

The Bourgas region is renowned for its desire to keep alive a wonderful history of traditional Bulgarian recipes. The dishes are varied and, though often spicy, appeal to every possible taste. Throughout the year, there is an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, fish delicious desserts.
Cosy, family-owned, restaurants by the sea offer freshly prepared fish soup, Black Sea fish, fried potatoes and cold beer. Upscale restaurant menus have traditional Shopska salad with a glass of quality brandy, the popular Bulgarian dish, Kavarma, kebabs, sarmi in vine or cabbage leaves, stuffed peppers or moussaka. For dessert, there is a choice of pancake with homemade fig jam, pumpkin rachel or ice cream.
In the Strandja area, a mouth-watering experience is the traditional “dyado” and “zelnik,” - home made cheese pastry with stewed vegetable filling, served with sheep yogurt.
