Pomorie
was founded in the 5th Century B.C. and the ancient Greeks called it Ankhialo. It has ancient monuments and a distinct, colourful architecture. There are houses from the National Revival Period in the eastern part of the town as well as several churches with valuable woodcarved iconostasis and icons. Pomorie is famous as a Spa and takes pride in the historical fact that Byzantine Emperors visited ther town because of the miraculous properties of its mud and waters.

The Monastery Of Saint George the Victory Bringer was built in 1856. On May 6 each year, thousands of visitors come to the monastery to paint homage to their patron saint, Saint George.
The Domed Tomb dates from the 2nd Century BC and is an architectural monument of international significance. Under the fill of the mound there is a Thracian Mausoleum. The tomb is open to visitors in the summer season. In the centre of the Architectural Reserve, Old Pomorie Houses, one can visit the only surviving Medieval church, The Transfiguration of God. It is famous for its 18th Century icons and continues to be a working church.
