Sredets
is situated southwest of the Yambol-Odrin road, not far from Bourgas. Of interest are the Kaleto Medieval Fortress, the ethnographic museum, Thracian tombs and the church of All Saints. It is a farming area with basic tourist facilities but good rest and recreational facilities can be found in the Bozhoura locality.
The Debeltum Archaeological Museum in the village of Debelt is 8 km east of Sredets. It is the site of the ancient town of Deultum, which was a Roman settlement in the second half of the 1st Century AD.

In 812 AD the town became part of the Bulgarian State. The fortress was built in the 5th Century and existed until the 15th Century.
The Eastern Orthodox Monastery, Zhivotopriemniy Iztochnik (Life Giving Source) in the village of Golyamo Boukovo, not far from Sredets. It dates to the 12th Century and is a working monastery with a Holy Spring.
