Zheravna
typifies the authentic character of Balkan Mountain villages. Here one can see the varied styles of house building from the National revival Period to the 17th and 19th centuries. They include houses, workshops, shops, cellars, storehouses, a tavern, a church and a church school. In all, there are 200 examples of cultural monuments and ancient dwellings.

A Zheravna house is a classical example of a wooden house in the mountains. Not to be missed are locally made folk costumes and carpets with unique colours and designs. Locals will be quick to remind you that Zheravna is the birthplace of Yordan Yovkov, Bulgaria’s most famous bard and that it still has its share of great storytellers.
