A visit to a Bulgarian home is one of the most interesting attractions for foreign guests in this country. It is a custom symbolizing Bulgarians’ hospitality for the host and hostess to meet their guests at the threshold with a loaf of home-made bread and some salt and a glass of wine or brandy. Friends and guests are invited to the table laden with palatable dishes, the traditional banitsa (cheese pastry) or sweets made by the hostess.
Tourists will see the ethnographic expositions of traditional clothing and objects of everyday life at the houses they visit.

A memorable experience will be a visit to the Kartalov’s house in Preslav. Old local women welcome the arriving tourists with a song and a bunch of wild geranium. Then they recreate the rites and rituals such as Easter, Saint George’s Day, Saint Lazarus’ Day and a wedding. Besides the delicious home-made dishes, the guests will taste different brands of wine and brandy from the Shoumen Region.

A trip to the architectural and ethnographic complex in the village of Asparouhovo (Chenge) and Saint Paraskeva Church will introduce you to the local traditions in dancing, bagpipe playing and craftsmen. During a short stay at one of the houses guests can taste home made yogurt or wines and brandies from the region of Varna.
